Adding lighting to your driveway, yard and around your home is beneficial because it makes your home more safe and secure, but it also makes an impact after dark as to what your home looks like. A well lit home is attractive and inviting and the types of lights you use around the exterior of your home can really make a statement. One interesting way to really light up the front of your home is with the addition of driveway lights, which light up the sides of your driveway or the driveway itself.
Installing lighting around your driveway can take on many forms. There are sets that contain a series of lights on posts or poles that can be installed along the edge of the driveway to help lead the way up and down the driveway so it is easy to delineate where the driveway ends and the grass begins. You can also install outdoor flood lights along the edges of the driveway to illuminate the area and you can even point them to shine on interesting bushes, trees or flower beds nearby for added interest.
Another option is to install lights directly within the material used to create the driveway. Whether your driveway is constructed from pavers or blacktop, there are recessed styles of lights that can be installed directly underfoot to add interest and create an ambient feel around your driveway. These don’t provide as much useable light as some of the other lighting choices, but they certainly do look good.
Other than recessed models, many types of lights that are installed alongside the driveway are easy for homeowners to put in on their own because they are either solar models or low voltage models. These types of lights do not require an electrician because they do not require electrical lines to be run in order to connect each light.
No matter what type of lighting you choose to install, the addition of lights will really brighten up the look of your home.
